Dear C Tech,

The Department of Geography, Bharathidasan University is interested in applying for an MVS license under your grant program. On December 26, 2004, the areas along the east coast of Tamil Nadu, India were devastated by the Tsunami. At present research is going on environmental health in the coastal district of Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu with special reference to fishing communities. This is being funded through the Faculty Improvement Programme of the University Grants Commission, Government of India, New Delhi. We need to model and analyze the damage from the Tsunami wave occurring along the Nagapattinam coastline, Tamil Nadu. We believe that your software can help us in performing analysis and visualization of environmental conditions.

The available funds will be used to support field surveys in the Nagapattinam District of Tamil Nadu Coast which was hit by the Tsunami, but do not have funding to buy software. We hope to be able to have your software in order to be able to accomplish the analysis of the impact of the Tsunami on the environmental health in the study area. The results of this work will contribute significantly in understanding the relationship between environmental health and the movement of the Tsunami wave and aiding the environmental restoration in Nagapattinam Coast, Tamil Nadu.
