C Tech Application Preview and Launch Menu

The C Tech Application Preview and Launch Menu provides a rapid and easy way to start all versions of our software and investigate many of the Sample Applications.

NOTE: Windows Vistas security measures block the Preview and Launch Menu.  To use under vistas follow these instructions.

When the "C Tech Preview and Launch Menu" icon is selected in the Start Menu, the following window appears:

This menu also provides direct access to the C Tech help system. Pushing the "EVS and MVS Main Help" button brings up the Contents page of this help file. The "Preview Menu Help" button takes you directly to this topic.

First you select the version of C Tech software that you wish to run. Then you select the Application Category desired by clicking on any of the four categories (or Blank Application). Then click on an Application Name to show a preview of the output created by that application. When the Application Name is longer than the window, hovering your mouse over the name will show the entire description as shown in the figures above and below. Note: Hovering does not change the Application Preview graphic. To see the preview of the application you must click on the Application Name.

Applications are categorized according to the type of primary data that they read. The addition of aerial photos, CAD drawings or buildings, etc. does not affect the category. Geology Applications are those which utilize only geology data. Chemistry Applications use only chemistry data files and Geology and Chem. Applications use both. Modeling applications utilize EVS Field files that were created by third party applications such as ESI's Groundwater Vistas' MODFLOW or MT3D.

If you are a demo user any version of the software can be evaluated. Since MVS is a superset of EVS-PRO, all EVS-PRO applications are available when MVS is selected. For this reason, MVS is the default version. Similarly EVS-PRO is a superset of all other versions (except MVS).

Licensed users can use the Preview and Launch Menu to launch their version of C Tech software OR to evaluate versions for which they are not licensed.

When an unlicensed product is selected it should be Run In Demo Mode as shown in the figure below.

When you choose a version to run and/or a category and application those selections are saved so that the next time you start the Preview Menu those choices become the defaults.

In the figure below we have selected EVS-PRO as the version and Geology and Chem. Applications as the category. Then the Coastal Facility application was selected.

To now run EVS-PRO with the selected application, push the "Launch EVS-PRO" button. This will start EVS-PRO running the selected application. You should shortly see the main window in the upper right with the collection of modules that form this application.

For this application there is a loop module which runs a simple animation of cutting away the ocean and geologic layers to reveal the contaminant plume. Click the "Run" toggle to start this.

Once it finishes, click on Az-El in the C Tech Viewer, and set the parameters in the Az-El panel to match:

When this is done, your viewer should match the figure below.

From our main window's File menu you can return to the preview menu to load and run other applications (Open Preview and Launch Menu). When you do so, the preview menu looks somewhat different. This difference is due to the fact that the software version previously chosen is still running. Therefore you cannot choose the software version (MVS, PRO, etc.) unless you shut down and start over. The revised preview menu looks like this:
